Where do they go? Career Plans of the Class of 2014

oca charts-6Pages from oca charts-colorWith the diverse background and skillsets of public policy and administration students, one of the most exciting moments is seeing where they end up after the Harvard Kennedy School. On average, two thirds of graduating students enter the public or nonprofit sectors, accepting employment at anywhere from small, rural governments to large international nonprofits.

Because the full statistics for the graduating class of 2014 have yet to be collected, we have included data from last year’s class. However, we do know some of the future employers for the Class of 2014 (see below). According to the Office of Career Advancement, one unique aspect of this year’s class is that 15 students have indicated that they are launching a new venture.

“It has been such a pleasure for us in the Office of Career Advancement to work with the incredible group of passionate public servants graduating today.  They are heading all over the world, joining organizations from the well-known to the soon-to-be launched, all with an eye on leveraging their HKS experience in search of innovative solutions to public problems. In a time of great global challenge, their talent and energy has never been more needed.  We wish them well and cannot wait to see what amazing things they will do.”
– Mary Beaulieu, Director of the Office of Career Advancement
