Douglas Alexander the UK Labour Party’s Shadow Foreign Secretary (and a 2013 Fisher Family Fellow with the Future of Diplomacy Project) recently visited HKS. At an exclusive breakfast with the HKS European Club he shared his thoughts on a wide range of topics from the referendum on Scottish Independence to the Ukraine Crisis.
Mr Alexander previously served in senior UK ministerial positions between 2001 and 2010, including as UK Secretary of State for International Development (2007-10), as UK Governor of the World Bank and as Minister of State for Europe (2005-06). In addition he coordinated the Labour Party’s 2001 general election campaign for then-Prime Minister Tony Blair. In November 2013 he published a book entitled ‘Influencing Tomorrow: Future Challenges for British Foreign Policy’.
