Discussion on Affordable Care Act

The Health Policy PIC will be hosting a discussion in which students will share their experiences in health policy. The event will focus on the Affordable  Care Act implementation at the federal level. PIC members will share their stories from work experience in ACA implementation at the federal level (ranging from setting up exchanges to ACA communications strategy). Presenters include:

This is the first of a monthly series in which PIC members will share experiences in specific areas of health policy. Events are hosted in casual settings and allow PIC members to get to know each other and learn from each other’s areas of expertise.

Discussion with Greek Minister for Shipping and Maritime Affairs

The European Club is hosting a discussion with H.E. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, Greek Minister of Shipping and Maritime Affairs. This is going to be a breakfast session with Q&A. The minister will cover issues on: 1) The new Trade Partnerships and the global role of the Greek Shipping 2) The new migration flows and the new security challenges.

 

EdPIC Small Group Dinner Discussion Series

The EdPIC will continue its small group dinner and discussion focusing on international education. The event will be looking at the varying roles played by schools and teachers abroad, what lessons can be drawn from international models of education, and the implications of cross-national comparisons of student achievement. Pizza will be served.


Panel Discussion about ISIS

The HKS Muslim Caucus will organize a panel discussion about ISIS and religiously motivated political violence. The event will feature Jocelyn Cesari (Director of Harvard Islam and the West Program), Farah Pandith (First ever U.S. State Department Special Representative to Muslim Communities), Celene Ibrahim-Lizzio, scholar, Advocate Newton Theological School.

 

 

Discussion: Africa Forecast 2015

Training on Sexual Assault

A representative of Harvard’s OSAPR team (Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response) will be doing a follow up training for HKS students. This is open to all members of the HKS community interested in continuing the conversation on sexual assault that was started during orientation.

India Discussion Group – ‘chai pe adda’

The Latino/Hispanic Caucus will be organizing the festive gathering in the tradition of a Latino Holiday Posada. The organizers will be collecting toys for the Action for Boston Community Development Annual Toy Drive, which gives toys to children from families who might not be able to afford them during the holiday season. The organizers encourage the participants to bring a toy or gift card.
