The Citizen

Cross-Check

By Simon R. Bone

I expect almost all of you have flown through Boston Logan at some point in the last six months. That cold triangular gateway to learning and lifestyle.

Seeking refuge your plane descends and turns over the Boston Harbor. It turns again. You feel it shudder and face resistance against physics as the flaps lower and the undercarriage drops. Your journey is almost over but you are still wedded to the glide path. Unexpected bumps and noises shake the plane as it nears the harsh reality.

You look around. Your fellow travellers are in different states of awareness. Some stare out of the windows. Others read. A few stare into the distance thinking of past history and perhaps future hope. But you all have one thing in common. A long and sometimes tiresome journey and a desire to reach your chosen destination.

I believe this is called an analogy.
